Looks like the VDR messages get split up into two different files.
I don't think this makes much sense, because that way it is hard to
figure out the actual sequence of what is happening. Maybe I shouldn't
mark the syslog messages with LOG_ERR and LOG_INFO, respectively, but rather
always use LOG_ERR to make sure they go into the same file? Anybody with
more knowledge on 'syslog' who'd like to comment on this?

As for the original problem: how many DVB cards do you have?
It would appear like there is an EPG scan on the primary card, and switching
channels doesn't work for all channels. So the "panic level" gradually
rises until VDR bails out.

I'll need to check the "live" parameter in setting the channel and maybe not
increase the "panic level" if the swicth was requested from the EPG scan.
