IMHO, messages is very bad place, 'cause s lot of other messages goes there
too.
In VDR logfile is defined as LOG_USER, in my Debian system all goes
to user.log, for me that is very good because nothing else goes there.
I also disabled vdr-messages going to debug and messages by
setting user.none in syslog.conf for those logfiles.

Very few things use localx, practically none.
So it would be safe, requires to re-config syslog, tho...
