Hmm, I'm using a selfmade-SuSE-Kernel 2.4.20 since a few days, untill a feww
days 2.4.19 made the good job. And why should DMA not work?

I'm using an ASUAS A7VAX and DMA works fine!

vdr:~ # hdparm /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
 multcount    = 16 (on)
 IO_support   =  1 (32-bit)
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  1 (on)
 keepsettings =  0 (off)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    =  8 (on)
 geometry     = 14946/255/63, sectors = 240121728, start = 0
vdr:~ # hdparm /dev/hdb

/dev/hdb:
 multcount    = 16 (on)
 IO_support   =  1 (32-bit)
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  1 (on)
 keepsettings =  0 (off)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    =  8 (on)
 geometry     = 14946/255/63, sectors = 240121728, start = 0
vdr:~ # hdparm /dev/hdc

/dev/hdc:
 HDIO_GET_MULTCOUNT failed: Input/output error
 IO_support   =  1 (32-bit)
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  1 (on)
 keepsettings =  0 (off)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 BLKRAGET failed: Input/output error
 HDIO_GETGEO failed: Invalid argument

BTW, hdc is my Pinonerr DVD-writer. So where's the problem?

Inside my VDR are working one TT V1.6 and three budget cards, and this works
fine, too. I've no bit error's. Maybe yor HW has some IRQ-mismatches?
