[vdr] Re: Sky Navigator Remote Control

Hey

I have been using Sky Navigator with my vdr for few months now.

First when i opened the box i thought "Oh my good it's BIG" ;) But you'll
get used to it.

Navigator uses RC6 protocol which is not supported by all ir receivers like
irman which i had. Lirc serial home-brew receiver works fine.

The button layout is not compatible with vdr as navigator has no menu
button. (if you dont use one of the macro buttons. but they are much too far
for menu usage) so i made few changes for vdr button handling and now it
works fine (pressing select opens menu and pressing info opens channel
info).

When writing text from keyboard i use two thumbs tactic that works well
enough if you have big hands. Forefinger tactic is too slow but with small
hands there is no choise ;)

Hello,

This is the remote with the 'Nokia Brick' type keyboard under normal
keys. Is anyone using this for VDR? Is it nice to use as a normal
remote?

All the best,
