You've implied about preliminary subtitles support, so another
remote control button named "Subtitles" with similar functionality
wouldn't be a bad choice either. At least here in Scandinavian
countries the available subtitling languages varies from one to
five and some kind of secondary subtitles selection is almost
mandatory. Therefore I'd vote for the similar setup as implemented
in current subtitles plugins: there're system wide general
default settings and then there're are per channel settings..
