[vdr] softdevice documentation

Where is the documentation for softdevice? I've seen a few references to
it on this mailing list which show it's quite complicated, but the only
docs in the tarball are a README which barely scratches the surface.

I've just set up a Matrox G450 with DirectFB. MPlayer works on it, but
only as root, even though I've set appropriate permissions on the
devices; and nobody seems to have ever given an answer to this problem
on the directfb mailing list. Will I need to run VDR as root to use
DirectFB? The Debian package doesn't actually allow that!
