I don't know if anyone else still uses the xmltv2vdr.pl perl script for piping XMLTV data into VDR's epg, but I've been keeping a version of it updated with some additional function here: https://github.com/oldmanuk/xmltv2vdr These are the changes since the last version (1.0.9) was released on the mailing list - Add support for XMLTV episode-num. Currently gets added as EPG entry 'sub-title', if no existing subtitle has been found, in the form sXXeXX (e.g., Bones~s01e01). - Change default SVDRP port number to 6419. - Better support for ATSC/PVRINPUT EPG sources. - Allow multiple channels to have the same XMLTV channel id, useful for multi input (e.g., DVB-T, DVB-S) systems where you want to feed VDR the same info. Previously only a 1:1 mapping was permitted. I've also received a pull request from someone who rewrote the whole script to be a lot more readable and to use full XML parsing (rather than just line-by-line scraping), but I still need to investigate what the performance penalty is before accepting that in.

VDR & Multiple frontends

Hi, I wrote a patch to Steve Toth hvr3000 repository, so my FlyDVB Trio can use multiple frontend. So I get: /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux1 /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr1 /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend1 /dev/dvb/adapter0/net0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/net1 The bus of the two frontend is shared, isn't possible to get access to both frontend simultaneously, so I get an -EBUSY error by trying accessing frontend1 if frontend0 is in use. VDR doesn't support yet the second frontend, and it try to get exclusive access on both frontend on start, so the second frontend is inusabile. Vdr should probe for multiple frontend at start, and access frontend only on channel change. Please can someone give me an help to wrote a patch for this issue? Best Regards, Eddi

vdr-plugin-IPTV not working with vdr-plugin-xvdr and XBMC

Hello guys/girls, I have been trying to make iptv plugin to work with xvdr and xbmc, but i haven't manage to have any success. Xvdr is a plugin that needs a 100% complete TS to work, including PAT and PMT tables. By searching and "debuging" iptv and xvdr plugins code, I found out that the problem may be related with the filtering of PIDs, but i cant manage to understand how does the filtering system works. Is there any documentation or Howto example on how to program a plugin that implements cDevice interface on the right way? inputlirc with devices referenced by /dev/input/by-id/...

Hi, i have the following problem: With Ubuntu 12.04 inputlirc doesn't work anymore when using the symlics under /dev/input/by-id/... I have a Hama IR Remote, the symlinks for the remote are: /dev/input/by-id/usb-05a4_9881-event-kbd -> ../event2 /dev/input/by-id/usb-05a4_9881-if01-event-mouse -> ../event3 When using this links in /etc/default/inputlirc like the following ## EVENTS="/dev/input/by-id/usb-05a4_9881*" OPTIONS="-g -m 0 -c" ## then inputlirc doesn't start. With the following content: ## EVENTS="/dev/input/event2 /dev/input/event3" OPTIONS="-g -m 0 -c" ## inputlirc starts and works as expected. unfortunately the device (event2/3) changes from reboot to reboot. The upper version of the config (with by-id) has been worked under ubuntu 10.10 without any problem. I have tried to create "static" device names with the manual under " http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Configure_VRC-1100_remote_for_U…", but it didn't work. after restarting udev, there was no device "/dev/input/irremote0" is it a known bug that lirc doesn't work with by-id device names ? recording problem: two timers on same channel are using both tuners of S2-6400

Hello everybody, during my periodic recording of "Criminal Minds" on SAT.1 (on Thursdays) I have periodically the situation that both tuners are blocked and I cannot view other channels at live TV. The first recording has not yet ended, the next recording on the same channel is starting minutes before the transmission of the next episode. Timer 1: 20:12 - 21:20, Channel 5 (Sat.1) Timer 2: 21:12 - 22:20, Channel 5 (Sat.1) No live TV on other transponders is possible (RTL, ARD, others). I am wondering whether other users also have this problem using VDR 2.0.2. If I remember it right the behavior was okay prior the final releases and the release candidates before. But I cannot specify it definitively. I am unsure about this may have to do with bonding changes (bonding does not apply in my simple environment), or about the fix introduced in VDR 1.4.42 (fix pending timers). Perhaps it's even older and I did not realize because we do not watch that much live TV :-) Best regards, Ingo PS: at this opportunity I would say many thanks to everybody contributing to this great project, good job at developing this great piece of software!

VDR unit testing setup

Hello, I'm looking for suggestions on how to best setup VDR for unit testing. I'm working on a Python library that provides access to VDR's channels, timers, etc. Currently, it supports SVDRP and file-based access. Other types of connections like RESTful might follow. Setting up unit tests for file-based components is rather straightforward. It doesn't require a running VDR and I can use test files as required. Unit tests for SVDRP based components seem to require a running VDR in different reproducable states (data, time, VDR version, ...). I'm not sure what would be the best way to achieve that. May be, I can use a virtual machine, ideally without any real DVB hardware? Thanks, Malte

Missing /dev/fb for pvr350

Hi folks, i like to re-setup my vdr with ubuntu 12.04. The Plugin pvr350 cannot find the framebuffer. I have a device /dev/fb0, but it seems that this is the framebuffer of my tv-out of my mother board. When booting my old ubuntu 10.10, there are two framebuffer devices (fb0 and fb1). can anybody give me a clue why there is no frame buffer on my system for the pvr350 device ? Regards, Rainer

VDR on beaglebone black

I'm working on a project to run VDR on a beaglebone to record ota tv shows. I only want to use VDR to record shows, not view live or recorded shows. I have a WD media player for that. So far I have a HD Home Run Dual connected to my ota antenna that inputs about 40 channels, six or so in HD. It connects to a Netgear gigabyte switch. My win/xp pc plays the live tv shows just fine. I added an Addonics NAS with a 1TB drive to the network and stored some .ts Hd files on it. I have a WD tv live plus connected to the network and it plays the .ts samples files perfectly, as does my XP PC. I just installed Ubuntu 12.04.2 server on the beaglebone and it seems to be working fine. Now I need to connect the bbb to the nas server. Still working on that. The mount command is giving trouble. Then I want to install VDR, configure it for the HDHR dual and NAS storage and give recording a try. Any advice or comments on my approach. I'm prepared to upgrade to a faster computer if the bbb won't write to the disk fast enough, or the software won't run on this hardware. Thank you in advance for advice and suggestions. Livebuffer for VDR 2.0

Hi all! Now that VDR 2.0 is just around the corner i would like to check if there is any progress to the great livebuffer that was back in the 1.6 days? I tested a 1.7.x version some long time ago, but that did not work as well as the "original" version.. René
