To test your card, please try the following:

szap szap -a 1 -n 86 -r

(note the -r switch!) Wait for szap to tune.
Keep szap running in a console and run

mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0

in a different console. Maybe you have to use adapter1 instead, if your 
skystar is the second card.

You should see the tv-signal now.
