Did that (changed cat and grep to /bin/cat and /bin/grep) - no difference. :-(

I tried that but nothing echoed - not even when I tried it from the command 
line.

Where are the echoes supposed to show up when mount.sh is run from vdr? 
Probably not in /var/log/messages...

I'll play around a little bit more tomorrow.
