Ok, i have tracked down my problem with VCD's on my box. Like mostly the problem is sitting in front of the pc. :-)
I had changed the speed of my cdrom with "hdparm -E4 /dev/hdd" because of the loud noise if i'm playing audiocd's. I totally forgot this. :-(

That brings up a question, is it possible to use i a bigger buffer for read ahead?
