[vdr] generating index.vdr's for non-vdr files

Greetings,

I was asking myself if it's possible to use genindex.c or a modified or
similar program to generate index-file's for mpeg-2 files not recorded
by VDR; or even mpeg-1 files. I have a lot vcd compatible tv episodes
and i'ld like to use them as recordings - fwd/rwd, resume and not sync
problems (few, but happens sometimes). And another thing: mpeg files
transformed to vdr-recordings (without index-file, of course) end a few
seconds to early.

Does anyone know a solution for this problem? 'Cause when I use
genindex.c at an non-vdr mpeg1/2 file it always reports: "Error while
scanning file 001.vdr, broken mpeg file?"
