Well, for as long as you were watching timeshifted. If you could fast
forward during a commercial break, then the secondary card could be
freed again. Otherwise the secondary card would be used until you stop
watching timeshifted.

Sure, you have the beginning of the stream in memory, so why not save it
as well.
