Yeh, mplayer is about the only useful thing you can do with the Dxr2 in 
Linux...

Certainly :) eBay is the answer! Average prices are about £30 (about 50 EUR) 
for a Dxr3...

Most DVB channels rarely exceed 5Mbit/sec, and average about 3Mbit/sec - I 
think 300kbyte/sec is quite attainable for even the slowest hard drive / I/O 
system :)
