i'm thinking of building a VDR DVB-T system out of the epia-m board. I think the M6000 seems the best board - it has everything i need, including a passive cooled CPU. The M9000 and M10000 have more CPU power, but do i need it??
Has anyone any thoughts on which is the best epia-m to use?

Hi,

My money goes to an Asus Pundit. You may choose a Celeron or Pentium CPU. And you get a nice small box. Without the processor it's about 150 Euros + VAT

I've going for a 2Ghz because it's the slowest (cheapest) I can get.

I've tried the mplayer dvb output and my current K-6 at 400 Mhz is not fast enough. (from what I've read < 1Ghz processors are not fast enough). And I've found quite convenient to use all the time the same video output.

If you only want VDR with one DVB-s (no mplayer stuff) my experience is that a (P3 or K-6) 400Mhz processor with 64 Mb RAM is good enough. Please note that a C3 processor is slower at this same clock speeed.

Just my two cents,

Miguel Sánchez
