[vdr] Re: Suggestions for tv output?

I'm using a DXR3 card. Unfortunately I've found VDR and the DXR3-plugin
to be too flakey for me to feel comfortable relying on just yet -- it may
well be something in the combination of hardware and software I'm using,
but from time to time VDR locks up, particularly when displaying a stream
with "glitches", so I figure it's probably actually the card freezing and
the plugin not knowing how to deal with that.

(You may have more luck if your reception is better than mine -- mine
is absolutely horrible for most stations, and I still get some glitches
on ABC and SBS -- which are the only ones I can record at all.)

Cards with TV-out are fairly cheap. Personally, I'd try a Matrox
G400 as they've got a very nice crisp display and can be obtained
on eBay fairly cheaply. I haven't tried the xine-plugin yet, as
I have a working setup using a combination of WebVCR+, Freevo, and
a script of my own which WebVCR+ uses to do the actual recording
from a TT-budget card, but it is on the list of things to try.

I keep trying things with VDR every now and again because I like it
quite a lot, and hope to eventually figure out how to get it running
in a stable manner on my hardware.

More than a mere hindrance. It's a whole new barrier!
