My output is a Nexus DVB-S ff card.
Usually I don't watch the AnalogTV live picture ... analog recording
is done while any DVB-S channel is displayed on the TV out of the
Nexus. Watching the vdr recording later gives very good quality.
Watching *live* analogTV via Nexus TV out is jerky sometimes.

Not sure if vdr runs with no output at all ...

If you don't have a DVB-x FF card then your options for output are
Dxr3, Pvr350 or softdevice. Softdevice uses the normal VGA out - which
should be available in all hardware configurations. The only other "no
direct output" mode I heard of is via "softdevice2net" - but for your
scenario the plain softdevice is more applicable.

Maybe you want to get the AnalogTV input working with a temporary FF
card first, and later move to a configuration with softdevice output ?
That way you can concentrate on one problem at a time.
