Since there are none of these cards supported by vdr, this is no option.
And I think it also wouldn't make any difference to the DVB-S in CPU
usage.
Software-Playback of course would mean a lot CPU usage.

AFAIK the TV-Out of all ATI-Cards needn't be supported since it is
automatically active when you connect only a TV and no Monitor (and the
Radeon-Chip still is the best buy if you want to decode DVDs, at least
under Windows). I upgraded my VDR last weekend (mainboard with more
PCI-slots, was necessary because I want to add such a CMI 8738 soundcard
RSN) and it now has an ELSA Erazor III Pro with TNT2-Pro and lots of
Video-Outs/Ins... surprisingly the TV-Out of this card is also
automatically active when there is no Monitor connected, so I can now
leave the Monitor out of the living-room.

Yes.. but better hardware is always nice when it comes to compiling new
kernels and stuff :-)
