[linux-dvb] Re: CAMs - the never ending story...

Hi,

Quoting Thilo Wunderlich (tw@ubcom.net):

I don't see a problem here. Neither a legal nor a moral.

> Now those people are asking for something and get nothing ...

convergence is not the Salvation Army. We are aware of the problems. And we
are going to fix them as soon as possible. Some internal talks are
already proceeding.

Maybe such a fix will occur in the spare time of a developer. But shouting
around "they are taking our bug fixes and making money with it" or "I even
wonder how they can sell anything with that broken CA/CI" or "we do not see
any legal problems here" or "It runs under windows" is not the motivation I
would choose for convincing someone.

I don't see that convergence is behaving like a super capitalist who preys
the supporting community. We have started a couple of free GPL/LGPL projects
and we always are trying to do so. We are involved in the development and
support of much more free projects that we actually started. We have some
developers on the payroll and they're developing projects like GIMP or
dietlibc. We are pro Linux as the Digital TV operating system.

We are not afraid of VDR box. Why should we? We're developing superior
software for superior hardware with a specific guaranteed quantity of boxes
sold by contract. STB are rarely sold by the hardware manufacturer or software
vendor to the end consumer.

Well, now you are welcome to punish convergence for being such a lame
company, because we do not have the time to fix things which are requested.

But please stop to conjecture.

Bye... Szymon.
