[vdr] Re: Is there enough interrest in a mp3 player plugin forsoundcard output?

Hi,
...
Why OSS and not ALSA?
because alsa can do oss, but not vice versa, so
oss means all soundsystems supported, whereas alsa
means only few linux install would be able to play mp3
right from the start, and alsa is still not at version 1.0 stable
and sometimes very messy to install....
Good point,
had that in mind, but wanst aware of *g*

this at least applies to all red hat based distros, which are
quite common for non advanced linux users (outside suse land of course)

...

Thats what i want for month :-)

Ok, what is your intention to use it, and for which puposes ?
listen to stock quotes :-)
just kidding, i have an analog 5.1 system, so having surround mp3 decoded to 6 outputs would be cool, and the sound won't have to travel that long within my pc:
(mp3-decoder->dvb-driver->analog-out->cd-in-soundcard->mixer-soundcard->5.1-analog-out)

Regards Onno

regards gunnar
