AutoTimer will never delete a recording, it will only add new ones (and
another routine will update existing). So "ForceUpdate" will immediately run
both the AutoTimer and "CheckTimers" which is responsible for the updates
where the EPG differs from the timer menu. I requestet this button for testing
the new AutoTimer and CheckTimers, but it turned out to be useful in daytoday
usage -- so it remained.

The second is the answer to the first question ;-)

Only "Auto" timers will be automatically revised and changed by "CheckTimers"
(just every time before AutoTimer is called, so the same interval). So this is
what you want if you program timers far in future, in version 0.23 you would
probably end up with a ton of timers for the same film, now CheckTimers
will (hopefully!) find the correct event matching to the given timer and
correct everything like start time, stop time and changes in the
title/subtitle.

So "Auto" is absolutely that what you want for every recording, I would say
;-) And of course, every AutoTimer programms an "Auto" timer to avoid double
recordings (which may stil occur when the EPG has some certain errors).

If you really want to have control over your recording (e.g. because you
summarize a couple of films with one timer and don't want CheckTimers to
correct the margins), just set the Active value to Yes or No, either with
vdradmin or directly in VDR (where you can't see the difference between an
"Auto" timer and an activated timer, just edit the timer and press OK to
switch from "Auto" to "Yes"). Then CheckTimers will leave the timer as
it is.

I hope this helps...

P.S: Where is the lot of volontairs writing an comprehensive and easy
to read manual for vdradmin in all three languages? ;-)
