I doubt that there will come a next generation of DVB cards as we know
now.
The current cards do not use all their functionallity simply to cut down
the production costs.
Another reason is that they prolly will move more towards finished set
top boxes.

What a typical end user needs is a working box. Not something that
causes fatal errors or
artifacts in video and sound, easy to use...and so on.
So, they'll move more towards finished set top boxes.

But even if a next generation will come, for instancce, support for HDTV
en MPEG9999999999999 hehe
then these units will do exactly the same as the ones we use
today..meaning, stricktly the task
what they should do. Manufacturers want to make big profit but profit
doesn't lead towards a fully designed board
in most cases.
