I must say, I would be happy with 2 instances running if only I could 
get by with a single timers.conf.
OTOH there would probably be a lot of issues that I haven't thought 
about. I guess Channels.conf  would
also need to be exactly the same too, which then would probably be an 
issue when one instance needs to
update the channel info.
I  would just like there to be some way for the two instances to 
recognize that a recording has started on
the one instance and therefore the second instance could ignore that 
timer.
