[vdr] Re: Anyone using MediaMVP (plugin)

Hello Joerg,

what about the SOF? (Significant Other Factor). Is it usable by a not-technically inclined person, or more of a toy to see what might be possible in the future?
Well, this depends on the patience of your SOF :-)
If your SOF is a zapping monster, you might run into troubles. Imagine the image not reappearing after 1 second and your SOF pressing the up and down key asking herself why the systen does not react immediately. Furthermore: There is no komfortable EPG, and the MediaMVP currently does not use OSD. So if you watch TV and press the MENU key, the video dissappears.
Another example: If you want to reach channel 57, you have to press 5, 7 and OK, but you donīt see that you have pressed the 5 and the 7. I also recently had problems accessing a channel > 128.
This "might" be problems for your SOF, as it is kind of strange or not usual, but in the end, the MediaMVP-Plugin is not really difficult to use:
If you start the MediaMVP: Select "Channels" or "Records", select the channel or record by navigating with the arrow keys and press okay, and thatīs it. Zapping is like with VDR with "key up" and "key down".

So, if you want a working, silent and cheap solution for a VDR streaming client, MediaMVP is the way to go. Unfortunately, the author of the plugin always seems to run out of time - so the progress currently is rather slow - but promising.

BTW: You canīt use timeshifting or start recording a show from within the MediaMVP-Plugin.

Are you able to utilize more than one MediaMVP box?
Sorry, donīt know.

Jörg
