VDR (xine?) playback

If your picture gets blue, then you use overlay - as the "blue" is the colour that is used to replace with the TV pic! Try my config, that you have to place into your ~/.xine dir. I am using the nvidia legacy driver, as I had problems with the newer driver. It did not accept the ModeLines! >From dpkg -l ii nvidia-glx-legacy 1.0.7174+2.6.15.11-5 NVIDIA binary XFree86 4.x/X.Org 'legacy' dri ii nvidia-kernel-common 20051028+1 NVIDIA binary kernel module common files ii nvidia-settings 1.0-3ubuntu7 Tool of configuring the NVIDIA graphics driv xorg.conf attached .. you need to set the settings via nvidia-settings! But see my show-vdr script which is executed at login. You also see the iecset and amixer settings that I need in order to get Dolby Digital pass though to spdif! Cheapest FF card?

Hello vdr, Greetings! I am looking for a somewhat affordable(whatever that means :-) full featured DVB TV card since that is the only thing supported by vdr apparently. I hear they are above the 150$ range, it is very expensive for me. I want to be able to decode pay channels as well but apparently I can do that using a card reader that is not build into the TV card itself. VDR and Samba charset conversion

Hi, I'm struggling with charset conversion using Samba and VDR. The Samba server is version 3.0.22 (on Gentoo). Locales are: GDM_LANG=en_US.utf8 LANG=en_US.utf8 LANGUAGE=en_US.utf8 LC_ADDRESS=en_US.utf8 LC_ALL=en_US.utf8 LC_COLLATE=en_US.utf8 LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_US.utf8 LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.utf8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.utf8 LC_MONETARY=en_US.utf8 LC_NAME=en_US.utf8 LC_NUMERIC=en_US.utf8 LC_PAPER=en_US.utf8 LC_TELEPHONE=en_US.utf8 LC_TIME=en_US.utf8 In smb.conf I've added dos charset = UTF8 unix charset = UTF8 display charset = UTF8 The Samba server should work with all NT4/XP-based based Windoze clients, MacOS 10.x- and Linux clients using de_DE.utf8 charset. The Problem is the VDR-Box. It's the Minidvblinux distribution with samba-client-2.2.3a-1. As there are no environment variables for charset I assume it uses standard POSIX/C. I've tried different iocharset and codepage options for smbmount on the MLD-VDR box, but still get weird chars. Thanx for any hint how to configure Samba/smbmount Renne

My gut feeling is that these problems appeared around when AC3 bitstream out came into DVB firmware, and I think that was done by Werner Fink. vdradmin-am and autotimer

Hi, I'm trying to use the autotimer so I can enter in my favorite shows and have them automatically recorded. (I think this is functionality VDR itself needs to have but that is another discussion). If I use the search box on the bottom, left, vdradmin-am 3.4.7b lists the show I want. If I click AutoTimer, type in the same search pattern (i.e. Star Trek Next Generation), enable Title, Subtitle, Description and then hit "Test", nothing is listed. What am I missing here? Is there a plug-in needed on vdr to make this work? Can we try to bring together some documentation for vdradmin-am? I searched high and low and didn't find anything. Thanks, CR.

[PATCH] Ogginfo utf8 conversion for mp3 plugin

Hi! Here is a patch that converts ogginfos from utf8 to the setup charset. It is tested with mp3 plugin 0.9.15 and mp3ng plugin 0.0.9a. The cache file /video/id3info.cache (or /video/id3info.dat for mp3ng) has to be removed. http://toms-cafe.de/vdr/download/mp3-0.9.15-ogg-conv-utf8.diff Tom

Harman Kardon AVR 435 working with spdif of full featured cards ?

Hi, I plan to buy the harman kardon avr 435 receiver and want to connect the pin4 from jumper 2 of my full featured card to it. Does anybody know if this receiver works with the rev 1.3 card ? I don't mean the voltage, but the non audio bit problem. Thank you for an answer ! -- Gruß Dieter -- I do not get viruses because I do not use MS software. mediamvp and subtitles

hi, I was wondering of moving the (low) noise VDR machine away from the living room. For that, I would need something new, and was considering Hauppauge MediaMVP. So a couple of questions: - does MediaMVP and work with dvb-subtitles plugin? - which plugin to use: mediamvp plugin, or vompserver plugin? - do these plugins show VDR:s OSD (so that e.g. tvonscreen or osdteletext would work) ? yours, Jouni

VDR deletes timers?

Hi! I'm having a problem, I think that it came up whan i deleted all my config files and started from the beginning. I have one "server" with the DVB-cards and one "client" without any DVB-cards. Whan I add a timer at the server using vdradmin (3.4.7) och SVDRP it looks like this in /var/log/messages: Oct 17 22:52:46 digestive vdr: [9229] timer 1 (4 2058-2205 'House') added Oct 17 22:52:46 digestive vdr: [9229] closing SVDRP connection Oct 17 22:52:47 digestive vdr: [9229] timer 1 (4 2058-2205 'House') set to event Tue 17.10.2006 21:00-21:55 'House' Oct 17 22:53:02 digestive vdr: [9229] deleting timer 1 (4 2058-2205 'House') The timer gets deleted almost directly after it's added!? I have stopped the vdradmin process so it is not vdradmin that deletes the timer. I can record on the client without any problems, but when I have a record active on it I can't watch another channel ... I'm running VDR 1.4.3-2, streamdev-cvs, ttxtsubs Thanks for any hint! This can cause quie a fuzz if you link system directories. I even have this when symlinking /cdrom [/dev/cdrom] for access to vdr files on CDROM. Also here it's extremely advisable to have a dummy file at the mount point location to have vdr keeping his fingers off the mount point. Just a suggestion: a sensible means of access rights would be a good think for VDR to do. It's very critical to setup a system using externally stored vdr files when VDR kills every empty directory mercyless. regards Peter
