As far as I can see, the EPC-Scan provoked the "video data stream broken
on device x"-error and so it causes a restart of vdr at the beginning of
a recording on the secondary device. But I agree, this only prevents from
the "upt"-bug, because vdr makes a restart (even in vanilla vdr)

I don't have that experiences.

In my case the recording channel don't influence the bug. I have the upt-bug
on all channels and sometimes - if two recordings are successive on the same
channel- I got this bug in the second recording and not in the first (and
sometimes
vice versa or in both).

But I found out that the version of the DVB-driver influence that bug. With
DVB from 27.4.03 I got the upt-bug with all vdr-versions and with DVB from
12.06.03 the versions until 1.1.27 works fine. At the moment I test 1.1.28
with the mentioned driver. So that could be an explanation why this error
occurs different on different system. So maybe the people with this error
could also do some tests with DVB from 12.06.03 and vdr 1.1.2x to ses,
if they have the same behavior.
