[vdr] Re: Suggestions for tv output?

Hi,

Sorry if I sound like a total ass by saying this, but should it not be the
hardware, which does the resizing to the video stream?

Should we try to find a most direct way of doing things, which could be used
on most HW solutions out there?

So if for example softdevice uses 1280x720 resolution all the time and
directs Directfb to do the resize according to stream it should provide
better quality as there is less decoding/encoding phases and with out
kick-ass CPU?

Possible HW resize method:
Stream from DVB-x -> demux -> (Softdevice -> decode -> DirectFB with
instructions to resize according to parameters set by Softdevice) and result
is on screen.

SW resize Method:
Stream from DVB-x -> demux -> decode ->  resize -> encode to MPEG-2 (does
xine take unencoded video in?) -> xine -> decode -> fbxine?
