[vdr] Re: [FeatureRequest 1.3.x] using IR-Keyboard

Well actually I was referring to being able to type in the names for recordings in VDR itself rather than having to use up and down arrow keys. But using it for the Linux console would be great too.

I'd like to second that request. I'm about to purchase an IR keyboard
(the sort built for STB's including the R, G, B and Y buttons and other
TV related buttons). It won't come with any receiver so I'll have to
teach my transceiver the codes and then will use it through LIRC.
They have been available at ebay really cheap 1 or 2 months back. Also got one
for that purpose. Only problem is the internal IR of my shuttle... If somone
has an idea how I get it working, I'd be glad to hear.

However AFAIK there is no way to teach VDR a - z and A - Z keys (or a
- z + CAPS or SHIFT depending on how the codes the keyboard sends).
That would be fantastic.
You mean, to have it for both remote controlling AND for instance console
plugin? I'd really like such a thing, too. Wouldn't this mean to (1) have the
normal PC keyboard replaced with the IR one (possibly with some additional
keycodes) and then (2) have the keyboard as remote controlling device - thus
only (1) should probably be a TODO, because (2) already works?
