I noticed the same. 

vdr-dxr3 plugin (0.2.3-pre2) always enables only analog audio out of
the dxr3-card.

After vdr is started, I can enable digital pcm output by using 
"em8300setup -d".

The plugin settings don't seem to have any effect.

Otherwise 0.2.3-pre2 works well for me. Thanks.
