Did you try what Oskar suggested? Did you try running szap with the "-r" option?

I tried it out on my full featured card tonight and with:

"./szap -r VIVA"
and:

"mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0"

I get the following output:

So it is working over here.
If it does not on your Mandrake... I'd suggest compiling the drivers, apps and mplayer from source and if the problem still persist, I'd think that your card causes the problems.
