[vdr] Re: channels.conf

well, I did not managed to make it work...

Here is the line that I have in my channels.conf:

Canal+ :11856:V:S19.2E:27500:160:80:81:0:8201:0:0:0

When I start vdr, I have the following trace in the log file:
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: loading /VDRConf/channels.conf
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: loading /VDRConf/timers.conf
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: loading /VDRConf/svdrphosts.conf
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: loading /VDRConf/ca.conf
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: loading /VDRConf/keymacros.conf
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: found 1 video device
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: setting primary device to 1
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: SVDRP listening on port 2001
Sep 14 09:49:39 excalibur vdr[28343]: switching to channel 82
Sep 14 09:49:43 excalibur vdr[28343]: CAM: Aston Module 1.0300, 01, 0100, 0100

In the ca.conf, there is an id for the Canal Satellite encryption with id 14001.
14001 Canal Satellite France

I so changed the line of channels.conf to:
Canal+ :11856:V:S19.2E:27500:160:80:81:14001:8201:0:0:0

and restarted vdr.

Then I get again the message:
vdr[28496]: switching to channel 3
vdr[28496]: ERROR: Channel not available!

I've tried different kind of encryption but it failed each time.

Note that when I don't set the encryption field to 14001 but to 0, there is no message in /var/log/messages. I only have a black screen.

Have you got an idea ?

If I understand well what you say, I have to specify the conditional access code in the channels.conf file (reading the man of channels.conf lead to field 8 in the file).

Yes.

I got this error also when I was recording something and wanted to switch
channel.

But you cannot switch from a channel to another if the second one is on a different transponder no ? Or did I miss something ?

You can't, and if you try you will receive that message.
Oh, and when you will not load drivers for DVB you will also receive that mesage.

dvb drivers are loaded since I see them when typing the lsmod command. Moreover, I could not watch channels if they were not loaded ;)
I try this tonigh and keep you up to date tomorrow.
