No, it shouldn't. Please show us the exact entries in the logfile. It is
not clear what happened if you just tell us that vdr was "killed"...

I think RCU is only for a home grown IR receiver made by Klaus
Schmidinger, but I'm not sure about how to get the remote working in
your case as I use a selfmade lirc receiver.
And yes, the keyboard should still work.
