It probably could be reversed engineered rather easily. 

This problem btw. only concerns the CI module adapter and the chips on
it. The "NOVA part" already works for quite some time now.

AFAIK, the CI-CAM add-on modules are not on the market yet but I think
all card versions have the connector on the board.
There are also versions of the card with additional analog video in
(composite and S-Video, no analog tuner).

Yes, but just the CI stuff. The KNC1 DVB-S cards already were supported
by the AV7110/SAA7146 driver (though not in the newer Convergence drivers).
