Thanks, I'm indeed on HTV network and using this allowed me to 
successfully scan the, err.. cable waves, and it produced a working 
channels.conf. It would be nice to have that file in the standard Suse 
vdr/dvb package.

Now the only remaining problem is that the vidmode in DVB driver is 
wrong for my setup, and the picture is really screwed. I didn't 
understand Ludwig's comment:

I tried modinfo dvb_ttpci, and it said the vidmode=1. My attempts to 
change this setting via YaST failed. It actually mentioned something 
about source code, so maybe I will need to install DVB in source code 
format?
